abstract

in the present study, changes of values of serum 17ß-estradiol (e2), asparate amino teransferase (ast), alanine amino transferase (alt) and lactate dehydrogenase (ldh) following intraperitoneal (i.p) injection with the aromatase inhibitor (ai) letrozole were investigated in rainbow trout (oncorhynchus mykiss). forty- eight apparently healthy rainbow trout (mean weight of 845 g) divided in four groups (twelve fish for each group). (1) control vehicle injected, (2) group treated once with 1.0 mg ai kg-1, (3) group treated once with 2.5 mg ai/ kg and (4) group treated with 2.5 mg ai/ kg weekly (3×2.5 mg ai/ kg. results revealed that that, in the group injected weekly, serum e2 levels were significantly (p

effects of the aromatase inhibitor letrozole on serum immunoglobulin and lysozyme levels in immunized rainbow trout (oncorhynchus mykiss walbaum) females

letrozole is a synthetic aromatase inhibitor and interfere in the committed step in the synthesis of endogenous estrogens from androgens. also estrogens regulate the immune system in teleost. changes of 17- β- esrtradiol (e 2 ), serum immunoglobulin and lysozyme levels were measured using a method based on the ability of lysozyme to lyse the bacterium micrococcus lysodeikticus , enzyme-linked i...

Effects of letrozole, non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor, on serum sex steroid levels, oocyte diameter and gonadosomatic index (GSI) in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

The objective of this study was to contribute to investigate the efficacy of letrozole, a potent non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor, on serum sex steroid levels and oocyte growth in rainbow trout females. Serum steroid levels were measured using an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) before and 22 days after an initial injection with 1, 2.5 mg kg-1 and subsequent weekly injection ...

Rainbow Trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss

Rainbow trout are classified as Oncorhynchus mykiss, and as such belong to the same genus as Pacific salmon, and to the family Salmonidae, which includes Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), various trout (Salvelinus sp.), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), Arctic grayling (Thymallus arcticus) and whitefish (Coregonus sp.). Rainbow trout are native to areas around the North Pacific Ocean, from souther...
